Q&A: Charu Jain

Her love for drawing and painting detailed works of art led her to a career in jewelry  design. Now she designs some of Silpada’s most beautiful, bold styles.

Q: Walk us through your story. Where did you grow up? Any fun childhood memories?

A: I grew up in they city of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh in India.

I remember an incident from 8th grade when it was pouring heavily and streets were literally flooded. Instead of sitting at home, me and my 6 friends decided to go to attend the school as we knew that majority of students and teachers won’t be able to make it to the school and it will give us a chance to hang out.

Q: How did you decide to become a jewelry designer? Did you always know you wanted to work in jewelry or was this evolution?

A: I knew only about fashion designing during my school age. I love drawing detailed work and fond of making paintings based on nature. My mentor in college suggested that I pursue specialization in jewelry designing and I am glad I took that decision.

Q: What is your favorite piece of jewelry on Silpada?

A: Anything with free-form rough stones as it is exactly how the stones are found in nature.

Q: What inspired your designs that are on Silpada currently?

A: Nature.

Q: What is your favorite stone to work with and why?

A: Larimar is my favorite stone to work. When working with this stone, I feel such a close connection to the ocean, Atlantis and mermaid energy.
