Silpada & Richline Group:

Taking steps to protect nature’s gifts on Earth Day and every day

It Starts With Us

In nature, nothing exists alone.” – Rachel Carson

Happy Earth Day 2019!

Today’s one of our favorite holidays!

Each year on April 22, events are held worldwide (in more than 193 countries) to demonstrate support for the Environment and its protection. Earth Day Network, the organization that leads Earth Day worldwide, has chosen as the theme “Protect Our Species” for 2019.

What does Earth Day have to do with Silpada?

At Silpada, we firmly believe all life has value and every creature has a unique role to play. We all need to take care of the Earth because it is our only home. Big or small actions can go a long way. We encourage not only individual action but fostering togetherness to achieve greater goals! Read specifics how Silpada supports environmental initiatives through our business practices below.

Richline Responsible

Leading by example

Since founded in 1997, Silpada has grown from a direct-sales business of hosting in-house parties, to joining the Richline Group, in 2016, one of the largest jewelry manufacturers in the world, and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.

As we grow, we believe it’s our responsibility to lead by example. We will, continually and consistently, show our support for a healthy, human and animal-friendly planet and we ask everyone to join the journey.

Silpada and Richline group’s commitment to Wildlife Preservation & Responsible Practices:

  • Richline Group CMO, Mark Hanna, sits on the board of the U.S. Wildlife Trafficking Alliance, which aims to fight black-market sales of products made from endangered animals to the jewelry industry at large. Silpada and  Richline Group support the practices of the USWTA through the implementation of strong corporate policies; educating our employees, associates and consumer about policies; and encouraging other jewelers, retailers and jewelry-related organizations to make voluntary commitments to protect, and draw attention to, threatened species that are being poached for commercial sale.

Wildlife preservation is part of an ongoing Richline Responsible Initiativewhich:

  • Respects the rights of individuals, indigenous peoples, and communities.
  • Opposes all forms of discrimination and exploitation.
  • Protects the right of future generations to enjoy a clean and resourceful planet.
  • Commits to creating sustainable economic, social, and environmental prosperity worldwide.
  • Complies with laws, regulations, and treaties at international, national, state and local levels.
  • Creates traceability throughout our supply chain by means of active chain-of-custody processes.
  • Actively engages in efforts to finding solutions to critical social and environmental issues that are pertinent to Richline.
  • Continually improves all processes influencing health and safety performance.
  • Produces efficiently with the minimization of and safe disposal of waste, pollution, and hazardous materials.
