Introducing Our New Artisan, Marcia Moran!

And Her Eye-Catching Contemporary Brazilian Jewelry.

We are thrilled to introduce you to another talented addition to our incredible community! Meet Marcia Moran! Marcia comes from a family of doctors and dentists, and was once a dentist herself. Read how this full-time mom got into jewelry and started her business in her living room!

We sat down (virtually) to find out more about Marcia, her journey to becoming a jewelry designer, and beyond! Here’s what she had to say (*with a few edits.)

– Tessa

Q: Hi Marcia! Please tell us about yourself. What would you like our followers to know?

A: My name is Marcia J Moran and I am a jewelry designer from Erechim, Brazil. I grew up in Brazil, moved to America with my husband and 2 kids 17 years ago. My design style is influenced by the Brazilian fashion and natural resources, as well as Californian lifestyle.

I dedicate a lot of my time creating my new collections, but aside from my work, spending time with my two wonderful boys and my lovely husband makes me really happy.

“I could never imagine that coming from Brazil to the US, changing profession and following my dream, could bring me so much joy and personal satisfaction.”

Q: What inspires or influences you?

A: In the beginning, I was inspired by Brazilian nature, and Brazilian fashion. More recently, I use my travels to inspire new ideas and combine them with sophisticated Brazilian fashion style.

Q: How would you describe your personal jewelry style?

A: I am very eclectic. I do not like to use matching pieces. I do not use sets. But I always use earrings, necklaces and rings. I might use 2 or 3 bracelets together, with a gorgeous earring. I like to mix gold and silver colors.

Q: How did you become a jewelry designer?

A: I come from a family of doctors and dentists, and I went to Dental School in Brazil. I used to work as a dentist until I moved to the US. I always liked fashion, and dreamed of working with jewelry since I was a kid.

“My goal is to always make the women who wear my designs feel powerful and beautiful.” – Marcia

My mom inspired me with her great taste—always following fashion and showing me the right way to pair accessories with a great outfit. However, I felt I could not do it (become a jewelry designer) in Brazil. Once I moved here, I had the idea to start manufacturing jewelry in Brazil, using Brazilian stones.

Q: Walk us through your design process. Where do you start? What inspired your designs that are now available from Silpada?

A: I started the coral collection in my last summer vacation. I saw the beauty of the red sea and decided to use it in my designs. Later on I decided to create The Volta Collection. I wanted to use unique coin designs, with a beautiful and simple detail that shows sophistication.

Q: What do you hope people take away from your designs?

A:  My goal is to always make the women who wear my designs feel powerful and beautiful. I hope they see the uniqueness and sophistication in each piece.

“I hope they see the uniqueness and sophistication in each piece.”

Q: How do you see your brand evolving in the future?

A: I can see myself designing men’s jewelry.

Q: What has it been like watching your brand grow and evolve over the years?

A: I am very proud of the growth of my business. I keep one of my first designs, a druzy ring in my nightstand, and wear it occasionally. I really enjoy wearing them because it makes me proud of what I have built in this country. I could never imagine that coming from Brazil to the US, changing profession and following my dream, could bring me so much joy and personal satisfaction.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone who wants to be a jewelry designer?

A: Work hard, there are no bad ideas.
