Meet the Silpada Merry Makers

Our Holiday Traditions

Can you feel the Holiday magic in the air? We can and we thought we would get a jumpstart on our Holiday Traditions. As new and old traditions begin to take place, we thought we would share some of the Silpada Team’s traditions amongst the Holidays.

We asked team members to share new, old, and most beloved traditions over the holidays. Many of these traditions have been passed down from one generation to the next and others have just begun as new families are created. We hope that these sweet memories inspire you to come together and hold your loved ones closely during this special time.

Silpada partners with living beyond breast cancer

With You, For You

At Silpada, being a part of our community means being a part of a sisterhood of friends that supports, empowers and celebrates one another. We’re excited to come together with another community, our friends at Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC), that shares many of our same values. This month, 50% of proceeds from each item sold from our curated collection of 5 new pieces will be donated to LBBC.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s mission is to connect the 3.1 million people affected by breast cancer with trusted breast cancer information and outreach within a community of support. Not only is it a safe community to find information while trekking through very unknown territory but a community of women of all ages and backgrounds with their own unique story.

A tale of two stones

New Metalicious Collections

Hear from artisan Stephanie Maslow-Blackman about the materials that inspired her unique new collections designed exclusively for Silpada

The Seashell Collection utilizes blue Larimar, a stone of serenity, communication, and relaxation, while every piece in The Sunburst Collection represents joy, warmth, and strength.

The Seashell Collection

The Seashell Collection represents peace, calm and bliss. The inspiration for this collection are the seashells and teal blue water at the beach. With Summer coming to an end, I want to hold onto that feeling of zen I get as I listen to the ocean waves. Wearing pieces from this collection will help keep it close and get me through the fall and winter months. Each piece from The Seashell Collection features modern tiny silver turbo or nautilus shells. Larimar is a stone of serenity, communication, and relaxation.

Larimar has a silky blue appearance similar to the extraordinary blue color of the Caribbean sea and sky.

Larimar is a rare gemstone that’s only found in one place in the world, a hard-to-reach, mountainous region in the Dominican Republic. It’s a rare type of pectolite that forms inside basaltic lava where it’s mined from old volcanoes.

The name Larimar comes from a combination of the words ‘Larissa’ and ‘Mar’, named for the daughter of the man who found it and the Spanish word for Sea.

Larimar is a stone of serenity, communication, and relaxation.

Switching gears to Stephanie’s second exclusive collection for Silpada, feast your eyes on the rich and fiery Sunburst Collection. Each piece in The Sunburst Collection represents joy, warmth, and strength.

The inspiration for this collection is the power of the sun like a burst of sunlight that can power through clouds on a rainy day this collection of jewelry will bring you joy as you wear or gift it. The silver is sculpted with a highly textured finish to represent the rays of the sun – similar to the sparkly flash of golden light that radiates from within each Sunstone. Sunstone is a stone of abundance, independence, and leadership.

Sunstone is a member of the feldspar family and is named for its warm shades of gold, orange and red that sparkle like the sun inclusions of goethite and hematite refract light between the crystal layers and produce an iridescent effect as the stone is viewed from various angles.

That just means it has a glittery golden sparkle you won’t see in any other stone. Each gem is unique making your jewelry truly one of a kind!

Stay tuned & follow @SilpadaDesigns on social media for updates about our special Metalicious x Silpada collaboration and to be the first to shop these new collections (on August 26!)

The roots of balinese jewelry

Talking Passion With Janice Girardi

Born in Japan and raised in the U.S., designer Janice Girardi’s life has taken her all over the world. The journey of her life began during college with a trip to Australia. It was there that she first heard of Bali, Indonesia described by everyone as paradise with white sand beaches. Janice traveled throughout Southeast Asia throughout the early 1970’s, eventually making Bali her home.

Janice is a passionate artist, inspired by the abundance of nature around her home, her passion for saving animals and an appreciation for the ancient influences around her. Her work is a symphony of brilliant colors and shape combinations that bring unique elements together, resulting in modern elegance and ancient drama.

Janice’s newest collection of Balinese jewelry will be available this August. Learn about her influences and passions in her own words below.
